This Land

In June 2020, Theatre Royal Plymouth was due to stage 'This Land', the first ever international community production. This Land is an epic theatrical event marking the 400 year anniversary of the Mayflower’s journey and its impact upon arrival in America. I was commissioned to create a range of print advertising and promotional materials to publicise the event.

The idea for the title treatment lay with the Wampanoag tribe. Central to their culture was Wampum - items of huge spiritual significance, made from shells and woven into belts with extraordinary skill. These belts serve as a document of the tribe’s history interpreted through images and symbols woven into the design.
